She was the daughter of Harold B. and Ruth Gieb, the wife of John D. McMurray III, her beloved husband of 49 years. Both her parents and her husband predeceased her.
She is survived by her sons, John IV and Robert, and Robert's wife Marea, grandsons Christopher, Ryan, Johnny, Langedon and Ballard, her brother Mike Gieb, his wife Jamie and their three children. She also leaves behind her treasured Lab, Angus.
Ann is a member of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church and a dedicated member of her church Bible Study. She loved her volunteer time at St. Michael's Woman's Exchange, where she was committed to its purpose and enjoyed both the work and the special friendships that developed with other volunteers.
She was a strong believer in historic preservation and was a member of Preservation Dallas and the Dallas Historical Society. She was an ardent supporter of Dallas Heritage Village and always looked forward to touring December Candlelight with her grandchildren.
Ann cared deeply about protecting the environment and its wildlife. She was a member of The Audubon Society, World and National Wildlife Fund and the Dallas Zoological Society. She also lent her support to a wide variety of groups, including G.H.S. Alumni Association and organizations addressing health issues, children and youth. She participated in several book clubs and for 30 years has been a member of the Lake Highlands Lunch Bunch.
Ann loved old buildings, art, music, adventure, travel, everything British, and reading, especially mysteries. Importantly, she loved her family the most...whether enjoying the family vacations in New Mexico, neighborhood ski trips to Colorado, fishing on the coast, cheering for her sons and grandsons in school activities and athletics, attending family movie dates, visiting one-on-one with her grandchildren or celebrating important milestones as a family...her family was the center of her life and always came first.
While we know we have been blessed to have Ann in our lives, still she will be missed by her family, her many friends and professional colleagues. Her love for her family, her laughter and curiosity, her empathy and caring, her elegance and grace shall never be forgotten. Ann was the epitome of a Southern Lady.
