Andrés Marrero Martínez, Jr., 57, of Plano, Texas was a caring father, son, and friend, whose kindness, intelligence, and sense of humor were obvious to all of those around him. He passed away on Tuesday, March 07, 2017.
Andrés was born on August 01, 1959 in New York City, New York to Andrés Marrero Rivera and Nurinalda Martínez Martínez. As a bright young boy growing up in the Bronx, Andrés worked hard in school and had a strong passion for sports. When he was 14 years old, Andrés and his family moved to Puerto Rico where he later finished high school and then graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez.
When in adulthood, Andrés moved to Texas to pursue a successful career in engineering and later transitioned to a career in finance and sales. Andrés was always described as a dedicated employee whose strong work-ethic and wisdom propelled him to the top.
While in Texas, Andrés remained a die-hard Yankees and Giants fan and his passion for sports continued. In addition to watching sports, Andrés enjoyed cooking, discovering new restaurants, and seeing movies. However, he truly loved relaxing at home. More than anything, Andrés enjoyed spending time talking about his love for his family. Andrés was a proud father to three sons and proud grandfather to six grandchildren.
Andrés is survived by his father, Andrés Marrero Rivera of Puerto Rico; son Luis D. Marrero and his wife Jacky Marrero along with their two children; son Miguel A. Marrero and his wife Yenitza Ramos along with their four children; son Ryan M. Angus and his wife Emily Angus; siblings Gladys Crespo Martínez, Johnny Crespo Martínez, Yolanda Crespo Martínez, and Lizzette Marrero Martínez; and his niece Jacqueline Ortiz Crespo with whom he grew up.
Andrés was preceded in death by his mother, Nurinalda Martínez Martínez of Puerto Rico.
Arrangements under the direction of Ted Dickey West Funeral Home, Dallas, TX.
Visitation services will be held at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas on Friday, March 10, 2017 from 6:00-9:00pm. Graveside service will be held at Hilltop Memorial Park in Carrollton, Texas on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 10:00am.
