Ms. Alexis Mikal McCoy

Alexis Mikal McCoy, affectionally known as “Lex Lex,” was born on May 6, 1995, in Altus, Oklahoma, to Michael Lee and Tyra McCoy. She transitioned from this earth to her heavenly home on September 10, 2023.

Alexis attended grade, middle, and a portion of high school in Vernon, Texas. She finished her final years and graduated from South Grand Prairie High School, Grand Prairie, Texas, in 2013. She attended the New Hope Baptist Church of Vernon, Texas, for much of her life.

Alexis had a heart of gold and enjoyed helping others in any capacity she could. She spent much of her adult life working in caretaker roles, providing care and support to children and older adults. She was known for her “keeping it real” attitude and love for her family and loved ones. She was confident in who God created her to be and lived her life victoriously and carefree. She was known by many as: “Lex Lex, Savage Lex, Hamburger, big girl, and Ms. PTSO.” She was a true “sneaker head” at heart and had an affinity for Air Jordans. She always kept a “fresh pair of J’s” and even influenced her grandfather, or as Alexis called him – Papa, to get into the Air Jordan game.

Alexis was a loving daughter, granddaughter, great-granddaughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She leaves her loving parents, Michael Lee of Vernon, Texas, and Tyra McCoy of Grand Prairie, Texas. Maternal grandparents CW and Phyllis Williams of Grand Prairie, Texas. Paternal grandmother Diane Lee of Vernon, Texas. Sisters – Rachael and Rochelle Love, Raven Smith, NiMiya Lee, and Tanaya Lee. Brothers – Keverick McCoy, Xryon Willie, and Harris Lee. Uncles – Eric McCoy, Kevin and Thomas Flagg-Williams, and Tyrone Taylor. Aunts – Tasha and LaTesha Lee. She especially loved and had a special relationship with her only nephew, Karter McCoy. Alexis also leaves her goddaughter, Lezah Lee, godson, Demetrius Murray II, godmother Kim Holman, and close friends Quyanna Massie, Jason Marshall, and the boys.

Alexis was preceded in death by her grandfathers Leonard McCoy and Michael Lee, Sr., great-grandmothers Verna Mae Hardeman, Rutha Ford, Hazel Wilson, great-grandfather Samuel Wilson, uncle Leonard McCoy, Jr., and other relatives.

Matthew 5:4 says, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” Although Alexis is no longer here in the flesh, we can be comforted that she is with God and an angel amongst us.
