He died peacefully in his home surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born on August 22, 1949 in Suffern, New York to the late
John Joseph and Frances Elizabeth Checklick.
His death was also preceded by an infant brother Joseph
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 40 years Kathy Checklick and their three sons John Joseph Checklick and his significant other Amy and her daughter Karah, Stephen Checklick and his wife Heather, and Joseph Checklick and his wife Casey.
Additional survivors include his grandchildren
Alyssa (his very special friend) Joey, Carter, and Jaxon
He is also survived by one brother Carl Thomas Checklick and his wife Melody from Florida, sister-in-law Cynthia Baggot and her husband Scott from New Jersey and their children Sara and Scotty, Brother-in-law Richard Russell and family, and Brother-in-law John Russell and family. He is also survived by his honorary family Robert and Karen Roberts from Madison and their children Robyn and Colleen and many other friends and family.
John was an active member of the Precious Blood Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus prior to his illness.
John worked at Sightline Systems for many years as a Technical Support Engineer, that allowed him to travel all over the world, making many friends around the world.
John will be remembered as a kind man who would help anyone in need.( often thought of as the fixer)
His greatest joy was being surrounded by his family and friends at home or at the Country Club, usually with a golf club in hand.
The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses at the Emily Curic Cancer Center and the Hope Cancer Center who cared for John and treated him as if he was a member of their own family. We would also like the thank all of his special friends in the Medical Outpatient Center.

Memorial contributions to be made in lieu of flowers to Hospice of the Rapidan, PO Box 1715, Culpeper, VA 22701 or the American Cancer Society,1445 Rio Road East, Charlottesville, VA 22901.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 2, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Precious Blood Catholic Church, Culpeper, VA. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012 at Clore-English Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Clore-English Funeral, 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, VA 22701.
