Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary Joyce DeMonia Burke, age 80 of the Ebenezer Community, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 24, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Good Hope Cemetery, with Rev. Terry Tingle officiating.

Mrs. Burke passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at U.A.B. Hospital. She was born on November 7, 1932 in Cullman to the late Samuel Cody and Mary Emma Martin DeMonia.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Claud Liles “C.L.” Burke; one son, Charles Steven “Chuck” Whitaker; and nine siblings.
Mary was a longtime and very active member of First Presbyterian Church; and had worked as a bookkeeper for Ingram Farms for many years. In her later years, she enjoyed working in the “Grandmother Program” at East Elementary School. And her spare time was devoted to the great-grandchildren and friends. Some of her favorite past-times were flower gardening, keeping her yard and the daily cross-word puzzle.
Survivors include a Daughter – Kim Michelle (Robert) Stricklin; one Step-Son – Claud (Sharon) Burke; five 5 – Grandchildren – Page Michelle (William) Dowdy, Zak Ivey, Judge Liles (Natalie) Burke, Ashley (Milo) Spethman and Daniel (Leslie) Stricklin; and a host of Great-Grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the church on Monday, December 24, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. until the service begins at 1:00 p.m.
