Mr. Smith passed away Friday, Feb 11, at Hanceville Nursing
Home.
He was born on Oct.20 1915 in Marshall County, Tennessee to James Orzo, and Lera Harwell Smith. After moving to Cullman he operated Nu-Way Cleaners along with his brother-in-law Charles Pigg for many years. He retired from Mutual of Omaha after many years of service. Mr. Smith was one of the original founders of the Cullman Lions Club where he remained active until recent times.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Grace B.
Smith. He is survived by his son James Harwell Smith, Jr. (Peggy), a daughter Deborah K. Cox(Ernie) and three grandchildren, James Bradley Smith, Adam Kennedy, Rachel G. Kennedy, and one great-grandchild James Sticher Smith.
The family will receive visitors on Monday Feb. 14, 2011 from 12 to 2:00 PM, prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First United Methodist church.
