Mr. James Tillmon Shedd

Funeral services for Mr. James Tillmon Shedd, age 82 of Vinemont, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 11, 2010 at the Mt. Vernon Methodist Church in the Battleground area. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery, with Bro. Glenn Miller and Bro. Butch Shedd officiating.

James passed away on July 9, 2010 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born on February 10, 1928 to William A. Shedd and Nova Suites Shedd. Mr. Shedd had worked as a truck driver for over 50 years, working for Cullman Banana , Mercury Freight line and others. He enjoyed being outdoors, by hunting and fishing and in his spare time, taking care of the “farm” which included everything from the animals to the garden. James took great pride, and served on the Mt. Vernon Cemetery Committee Board, and helping on the Mt. Vernon Community Watch Program. He is preceded in death by his parents, one son, James Brence Shedd; one sister, Wilma Shedd Parris and one brother, William Shedd Jr.

Survivors include his Wife of 62 years, Elda Owens Shedd; three Daughters, Mary Ann (Tim) Taylor; Margie (Aaron) Bishop and Rose (William) Richards; eight Sons, Joe (Linda) Shedd, Brent (Dianne) Shedd, Buford Shedd, Donald (Dale) Shedd, David (Dawn) Shedd, George (Mary Lou) Shedd, Charles (Levene) Shedd and Paul (Susan) Shedd; two Sisters, Barbara Roberts and Madene (Jackie) Harris; two Brothers, Rudolph Shedd and Vernon Shedd; 19 – Grandchildren; 23 Great-Grandchildren; and numerous Step-Grandchildren and Step-Great-Grandchildren

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, July 10, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
