Methodist Church Cemetery, Cullman, AL for Grace Hightower Skinner, 91, of Welti who
passed away Tuesday, December 13.
Mrs. Skinner was born to Roy and Fannie Hightower and grew up in the Welti community,
graduating from Fairview High School in 1949. She married Charles Skinner in 1951 and they
settled in Gadsden, AL, to raise a family. She also lived in Columbus, Ga, and Gardendale, AL,
before moving back to Welti in 2000. She was a resident at Oak Landing Assisted Living
Facility in Attalla, AL, since 2020 and loved her dear friends there.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by siblingings, Clara Vanzandt, Melvin
Hightower and Guyland Hightower. She is survived by her sister, Ethel Lee Nail, daughter Rita
(David) King, Rainbow City, grandchildren, Brian (Stephanie) King, Cookeville, TN, Laura
(Blake) Mayo, Spanish Fort, AL, four great grandchildren Hannah Mayo, Libby Mayo, Paxtin
King and Ben Mayo.
She had many hobbies and loved putting together puzzles and playing word games. She also
loved the Friday afternoon Bible studies conducted at Oak Landing by Rev. Van Lockridge.
