Everett Chandler died at 95 years of age on Saturday, May 26th, 2018 at his residence in Cullman, Alabama. His funeral will be held at Moss Service Funeral Home on Friday, June 1st at 2:00 PM with Bill Hall officiating and visitation is on Thursday, May 31st from 5:00-8:00 PM. Burial will be held at the Cullman City Cemetery following the funeral.
He was born on August 22nd, 1922 to Earle Minton and Sallie (Birdwell) Chandler in Tanner, Alabama
Everett was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary Agnes Creel Chandler, his parents, a brother Arlie (Billie) Chandler and sisters Alma (Clinton) Brackeen, Esterlene Brackeen, and Vernice (Greer) Cagle.
Everett retired from the Alabama Cooperative Extension Service out of Alabama A&M University in Huntsville in December of 1985 after 22 years of dedicated service. Prior to this he worked in agriculture for 17 years in Cullman County including managing a Farmer’s Co-op, working with youth in 4-H clubs, and working with farmers growing crops for the King Pharr canning company. He graduated from Auburn University in 1949 with a degree in Animal Husbandry and received a Master’s from Alabama A&M in1982.
He was a WWII Veteran where he served as a Staff Sergeant in the 20th Air Force, 1031st Air Engineer Squadron, serving in the Pacific Theatre Operations on Guam.
He was a member of the Highway 157 church of Christ.
Everett is survived by one son, Charles (Peggy) Chandler of Cullman, and four daughters: Carol (Warren) Wrather of Lascassas, Tennessee; Barbara Chandler, June Chandler both of Cullman; and Sarah Chandler of Auburn; one brother E.M. Chandler of Decatur and three sisters Dorene Dunnivant, of Decatur; Sue (Al) Bowers of Vestavia; and Elaine (Everett) Conn of Madison; Five grandchildren: Karen Fuller and Chris (Allison) Wrather, both of Lascassas, Tennessee; Haley (Jonathan) Smalley, Jana (Mark) Rogers both of Birmingham, and Allison (Will) Holcomb of Corpus Christi, Texas; Nine great grandchildren: Kelsey Fuller; Anna Wrather; Hunter Wrather; Grayton Smalley; Harper Findley Rogers; Chandler Smalley; Palmer Kate Rogers; Mabri Holcomb; and Haley Gray Rogers.
He also leaves behind a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
