Thomas John Larak, 83, of Crystal Lake, IL passed away on Monday, February 13, 2023. He was born on May 1, 1939 to the late John and Lillian (Katien) Larak in Chicago, IL. Tom was a 1957 graduate of Crystal Lake Community High school where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He married his wife Susanne Budde on June 17, 1961.
Tom was a United States Army Veteran, serving as an MP and had the honor of meeting President Kennedy. He was an active proponent of youth sports in the Cary, IL area. He coached and managed Cary Youth Baseball (CYB). In 1975, he co-founded and served as President of the Cary Jr Trojans Football Program. He enjoyed cruises, traveling to Hawaii, and taking family vacations to Mexico.
Tom is survived by his loving wife Susanne; his three children Christine (Bob) Sommers, Todd (Diane) Larak, and Jay (Diana) Larak; his grandchildren Justin, Brandon, Jeff, Scott, Gavin, and Bria; his great-grandchild Lily; his sister JoAnn (Dennis) Frick; and his many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Ron Larak.
A visitation for Thomas will be held Sunday, February 19, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake, Illinois 60014. Burial will be held privately at Windridge Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fisher House Wisconsin.
