Barb was born October 3, 1938 in Woodstock to William and Crystal (Scoville) Frenk. Barb is a 1956 graduate of Crystal Lake Central where she was the lead majorette of the band's baton squad for several years. Following graduation, she attended Western Illinois University in Macomb. On May 4, 1957 Barb married her high school sweetheart John Q. Sexton. She and John moved numerous times across the United States in conjunction with John's career with Sexton Foods.
Barb earned her pilot's license in 1972 and became an accomplished Seaplane pilot, flying from their home in Lakeville, MA. Barb was an active member of the New England Chapter of the 99's, an International Women’s Pilot Organization. After moving back to Illinois, she enjoyed many years of boating with family and friends on the Mississippi River. She was a loving wife, mother, and best friend. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Barb is survived by her husband John Q. Sexton of Harvard, IL; her children, Catherine M. Fengler (Tim) Wallingford, CT, Deborah L. Jenkins (Bill) Cotuit, MA, Janet L. McConnell Rumson, NJ, Michael B. Sexton (Sherri) Ormond Beach, FL, Barbara A. LeBlanc (Matt) DeKalb, IL, and Jessica L. Sexton Cocoa Beach, FL; 10 Grandchildren and six Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Frenk and Crystal Frenk (Scoville); her brother William Frenk; her son John Paul Sexton; and her grandson Trevor John McConnell.
There will be a visitation from 2 to 6pm on Sunday, December 18 at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Monday, December 19 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.
Interment will be private.
