William Alan Edinger

William Alan Edinger, age 65, of Schererville, IN passed away peacefully at his home on August 15, 2014, with his loving wife of forty years at his side.
Bill was born November 22, 1948 in Hammond, Indiana to the late Donald R. and Catherine A.(Fleming) Edinger.
On January 25, 1975 he married the love of his life, Rebecca (Whiston) Edinger. She survives in Schererville.
Also surviving are his loving stepmother, Eileen Edinger, children William and Robert Edinger and Kelly O’Brien, brother and sister in laws Robert (Linda) Whiston, Patricia (Paul) Pelke and Peggy Whiston, mother in law Rebecca Whiston, several loving nieces, nephews and many friends.
After graduating Bishop Noll Institute in 1966, he then attended and graduated from St. Joseph's College Calumet Campus in 1970 with a degree in Management. Following a brief career in banking at Citizens Federal Savings and Loan, he joined his father in the family owned and operated business, Edinger Plumbing and Heating, Inc. and eventually retired as owner and president. He was an active member of Union Local #307 which later became #210, and served as Past President of The Plumbing and Piping Contractors Association of Northern Indiana from 1998 through 2004. Bill was an avid Notre Dame, Indiana University, Chicago Bears, and Cubs Fan. He enjoyed traveling with his wife especially to the Caribbean, riding his Harley, playing a leisurely game of golf and spending time with his faithful canine companion Gootch.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 S. Cline Ave.; Schererville, Indiana 46375) on Monday, August 25, 2014 with visitation from 2 -7pm and a memorial service to follow at 7 pm with Rev. Steve Kosinski officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of the Calumet Area, American Kidney Foundation or charity of your choice.
