Walter "Wally" Harms

Walter R. Harms, age 86, of Merrillville, IN passed away peacefully on February 6, 2018 at his residence with his loving wife of 59 years, Bertha Harms at his side.
Also left to cherish his memory are his sons, Arthur (Mary) Harms and Ralph Harms; grandchildren, Alan (Bailey) Harms and Claire (fiancé Leo) Harms; sisters, Carolyn Sovich, Ann Marlow, and Sara Artka; several nieces and nephews, and many cherished friends and neighbors.
Wally honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for several years at Metz and Walsh & Kelly. After retirement he loved gardening and enjoyed his free vegetable stand he had in his front yard, talking to people and making new friends. Wally was also a talented woodworker making tables, cabinets, and doll houses for his family.
