Violet was born March 22, 1924 to the late Thomas and Rene (Fraley) Oney. On August 9, 1943 she married Hursey White. He preceded her in death after 67 years of marriage. Also preceding in death is her son-in-law Richard Rumery.
She is survived by children Carol Rumery of Highland, Larry White of Edina Minnesota, granddaughter Christa (Mike) Hacker, great grandchildren Kaitlyn and Stephen Hacker.
She retired from St. Anthony Hospital of Crown Point after 20 years of service, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Hammond
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 11:00 am at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday, June 9th, 2014 from 2-8pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be given towards American Diabetes Association or Hospice of the Calumet Area.
