Mr. Richard Skippy Clyde Mills Sr.

Richard C. Mills Sr., 85, passed away Thursday, April 8, 2010 at the Riley House Hospice, Munster, IN. He was born December 20, 1924 in Gary, IN to A.L. & Naomi (nee Anderson) Mills. Mr. Mills served with the US Navy during WWII. He was the former owner of Mills Electric in Hammond, IN. He married Lorraine (nee Miller) on October 14, 1944 and she survives. Mr. Mills loved his family and his presence will be deeply missed. He was an avid sportsman who took up golfing and bowling when he was 60 years of age. “Skipper” is survived by his adoring wife of 65 years, Lorraine. One son: Richard (Marjorie) Mills. Three daughters: Judy Mills, Janet (Steven) Fudge, Joanne (John) Koepl. Five grandchildren: Richie (Joanna) Mills, Robb (Kellee) Mills, Kelly (Martin) Ryan, Andrew (Gabrielle) Fudge and Kari (Patrick) Lothian. Five Great-grandchildren: Kayla Mills, Brianna Mills, Mitchell Mills, Braden Ryan and Bailey Ryan. He was preceded in death by a brother: Kenneth Mills and a sister Edna Huntington. Family and friends may gather Sunday, April 11, 2010 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, (one mile south of US 30), Schererville, IN. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 12, 2010 at the funeral home.
