JOHN JAMES TUSKAN WHITING, IN celebrated his 93rd birthday on February 25, 2015 surrounded by family and friends and died suddenly the next day. Formerly of Whiting, IN, John was an alumni of Whiting High School. During WWII, he served as a military policeman (MP) guarding Fort Knox. Upon his return to civilian life he worked in the chemical and oil industries of the Calumet Region. He was beloved husband of Jane (nee) Salamonski, devoted father to Dennis Tuskan and Judy Popiela and grandfather of Tanya Davis. He is survived by their spouses Cynthia Quick, Gerald Popiela and Marc Davis and his great grandchildren Tyler and Tenley. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 S. Cline Ave. Schererville, IN 46375) with Fr. Theodore Mens officiating and military rites to be conducted. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 4, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. John J. Tuskan celebrated his 93rd birthday on February 25th with family and went to be with his beloved wife of 62 years who preceded him to heaven, Jane (nee Salamonski )Tuskan, the next day. He is survived by his son, Dennis Tuskan (Cynthia Quick) of Chicago; daughter, Judith Popiela (Gerald) of Crown Point; granddaughter, Tanya Davis (Marc) of Chesterton. He was a beloved Great PeePaw to Tyler and Tenley Davis of Chesterton. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews and family. During WWII he served as a military policeman (MP) guarding Fort Knox. Upon his return to civilian life he worked in the chemical and oil industries of the Calumet Region. In his later years, he enjoyed watching sports and working outside.
