Obituary of Joan Kearney
Joan Kearney, born February 17th, 1948, of Kenosha, WI, peacefully passed on February 6th, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melville “Millie” (née Eisenhauer) and Paul LeMay; her beloved sister, Kay; and her brothers, Gary, Dwight, and Red (Paul). She is survived by her daughter, Renee Eckard; grandchildren, Grace Price, Tanner Price, and Jude Eckard; her son-in-law, Cary Eckard; and her brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Tina LeMay. Joan loved three things more than anything, her daughter and grandchildren, her job, and her dogs, Tommy, Sydney, and Preston. Joan was a loyal and dedicated administrative assistant at Gibson Consulting firm, working for the founder and managing partner, Wesley Gibson, fulfilling this role for over 20 years. Throughout the years, the Gibson family and employees became more like family than just a boss and coworkers. She continued this work until December, 2023. Her beloved grandchildren, Grace, Tanner, and Jude, were her whole world. She loved going with them to New York and Florida and on tropical cruises. She loved visiting Grace at college and attended all of their extracurricular activities, like Tanner’s baseball games, band concerts, Grace’s cheering games and religious education, amongst others. In the months preceding her passing, Joan received a cancer diagnosis that eventually spread to her liver and lymph nodes. Though her oncologist was hopeful that chemotherapy would greatly reduce her symptoms, her health deteriorated dramatically until she passed peacefully in her daughter’s home after spending a wonderful weekend with friends and family. A Funeral Service for Joan will be held Friday, February 16, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Holy Martyrs Catholic Church, 801 West 73rd Avenue, Merrillville, IN 46410. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.ChapelLawnFunerals.com for the Kearney family.
