Gerald B. Helton

Brother Bob was the loving husband to the late Helen Marie Helton; beloved father to Carolyn (Brian) Schillke and Kathleen Aumiller; proud grandfather to Brian (Shannon) Schillke, Elizabeth (Joshwa) Smith, Natasha Jakima and Patricia Jakima; great-grandfather to Wyatt Smith, Lynnox Smith, Morgan Schillke ,Ephraim Schillke, Angel Love, Ariona Pitts; great-great grandfather to Micah Love and Avia Love; cherished brother to Joyce Smith, Butch Helton, the late Sonny Helton, the late Elmer Helton, the late Betty Hammonds, the late Nancy Hammonds, the late Doc Helton, the late Billie Whaley; uncle to many.

Brother Bob retired as a crane operator for US Steel after 45 years of service. Faithful and devoted member of Church of Jesus Christ in Lake Station. He will be remembered as singing and playing his guitar during services especially his favorite hymn "I want the Lord to Be Satisfied With Me". Abiding by those words, he satisfied his Lord by committing his life to Christ, and volunteered cleaning at his church and doing lawn service. He will be deeply mourned and missed by his family and his church family. Those who love him are comforted to know that he is reunited again with his wife of 65 years, Helen.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 5:00-8:00pm at Church of Jesus Christ (1623 Service Street; Lake Station, IN 46405). Visitation will continue on Friday, March 24, 2023 from 10:00 am until the time of his funeral at 11:00 am at Church of Jesus Christ. He will be laid to rest in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens next to his wife.
