Elaine Gertrude Ruehl

Elaine Gertrude Ruehl, age 85, of DeMotte, IN, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 15, 2024. Elaine was born to Alfred and Regina Gladys on January 26,1939 in Gary, IN. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Myron Ruehl; her parents, Alfred and Regina Gladys; her brother, Alfred Gladys; and many friends and extended family. Elaine is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Jeffrey) Hanlon; son, Michael Ruehl; grandchildren, Amanda (Mathew) Harris, Trisha (Christopher Vela), and Katlyne (Justin) Miner; two great-grandchildren, Lennox Harris, and Bentley Miner; sister-in-law, Dolores Gladys; and numerous nieces and nephews. She also developed a special bond with her two caregivers, Toni Kifer and Lauryn Koedyker. Elaine dedicated many years as the head teacher at Building Blocks Daycare, where she touched the lives of many children. A simple woman with a heart full of love, she enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley, doing word finds, and caring for her home and family. Elaine will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and her unwavering devotion to those she loved. Services for Elaine will be private. Arrangements were entrusted to Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Franciscan Hospice in Elaine’s memory. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
