Edward Diaz

Edward Diaz, age 75, of Calumet City, Illinois, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2017 with his wife of 39 years at his side. Edward was born 1942 in East Chicago, IN to the late Jose and Marie Diaz. Also preceding him in death is his sister, Juanita Morgan. Ed left behind his loving wife Cecilia Kay (nee Jarrell) Diaz; son, Christopher Joseph Diaz; siblings, Eleanor Uribe, Geralynn Valentin, Ramiro Torres; uncle, Leonard Aranda; brother and sister-in-laws; nieces and nephews. Mr. Diaz honorably served in the United States Air Force for five years. He was stationed in Korea, Japan and South Dakota. Ed retired after over 20 years as an overhead crane operator from Republic Steel in Chicago. He was an amateur photographer, an avid movie buff, enjoyed woodworking, candle making, and loved cats and kittens. Visitation will be Friday, August 4, 2017 from 4-7 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 Cline Ave.; Schererville, Indiana 46375), and again from 12 noon until the time of his funeral at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 5, 2017 with Pastor Steven Martinez officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Diabetes Association or Humane Society of Calumet Area in Munster, IN.
