Dorothy Laura LaMantia

Dorothy Laura LaMantia age 88, peacefully passed away at her home on Sunday, March 8, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, August 'Gus' LaMantia; children, Glenn (Deborah) Claypool and Eva Claypool; grandchildren, Denise (Steven) Griffin, Aaron (Cathy) Claypool, Daniel (Jessica) Bonta, Joshua (Maria) Bonta and James (Olivia) Bonta, great grandchildren, Leah Griffin, Molly Griffin, Nicholas Claypool, Kaytlen Provins, Beau Bonta, Benjamin Bonta, Deacon Bonta and Tyler Bonta; sister, Lorraine (Chuck) Young and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Dorothy was born July 15, 1931 in Wells, MI to the late Walter and Diana Peterson and was a graduate of Tolleston High School in Gary, IN. She retired from US Steel Sheet and Tin Federal Credit Union in 1989 with 27 years of service. Dorothy was an active member of Heartland Christian Center in Valparaiso, IN. She and Gus enjoyed spending time at their vacation homes in Bookelia, Florida and Watersmeet, MI in the Upper Peninsula. Dorothy was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will truly be missed by all whose lives she touched. Services were held privately by the family.
