Anne was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was lovingly called Grandma Bingo for her love of Bingo.
As a young girl, Anne grew up on her family farm in Hammond. She loved caring for the animals and riding any of the thirteen horses along the banks of the Calumet River.
Anne was a proud and loving mother who was driven by her faith in God and devotion to her family. She worked at Bank Calumet and Tina Marie Bakery. Anne was a stay at home mother who raised four challenging boys and one loving daughter. Anne enjoyed going to her children’s events and was the local Girl Scout leader for her daughter’s troop. She also loved her many grandchildren and enjoyed having them all over for “Cousin’s Day”.
Anne had many friends and was a helping hand to all who needed it. She always had a smile on her face and everyone loved her memorable laugh.
Throughout her life, Anne enjoyed nature, traveling, camping, casinos, cooking, breakfast, dancing, and making great memories.
The family cannot begin to express how much Anne will be missed, but take comfort in the long, wonderful life she lived.
Anne is survived by sons, Jim (Laura), John (Sharon), Jeff (Janet), Jay (Catherine), and son-in-law, Don Thomas. Also, survived by grandchildren, Chris (Annie) Thomas, Dave (Cassie) Thomas, Susan (Jason) Jernberg, Holly (Zack) Jones, Adam (Kendra) Grunewald, Hilary (Jason) Engelbrecht, Ryan, Kyle, and Nick Grunewald, Tyler, Emily, and Zack Grunewald, Jason (Lindsey) Grunewald, Daniel Grunewald, Terry (Hannah) Grunewald and Lauren (Drew) Young; nephews, Joe (Darlene) Narantic, Mark (Jody) Narantic, and Steve (Kelly) Narantic. She is also survived by many great grandchildren, and other beloved relatives and friends.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Anna Narantic; brother and sister-in law, Joseph Sr. and Marilyn Narantic; nephew, Kenny Narantic; husband, James F. Grunewald, Sr.; daughter, Joan M. Thomas, and great granddaughter, Emri Thomas.
Anne will be laid to rest at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crown Point. A memorial service celebration will be held at a later date due to present circumstances.
