Obituary of Alexander J. Bafia
ALEXANDER J. BAFIA ST. JOHN, IN Alexander J. Bafia, age 80 of St. John, IN passed away Thursday, June 2, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joan (nee White); two sons: Michael (Kathy) Bafia and Mark Bafia, both of Lowell; daughter, Deborah Reed of Wanatah; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two brothers: Stanley (Kathy) Bafia of Lowell and Edward (late Rose) Bafia of St. John; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Bafia was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph and Mary Bafia; and brother, Joseph Bafia. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Klukken officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Monday, June 6, 2011 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Ave. (1/2 mile South of US 30), Schererville. Mr. Bafia was a retired Teamster Local # 142 of the Hammond School System. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Lowell Moose Lodge #2437, who will hold services at 7:00 p.m. on Monday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Bafia loved fishing in Ludington, MI for the past 30 years with his son and best friend, Mike and grandson, Michael and granddaughter, Heather. Alex was a loving person and was very generous. Everyone who knew him loved him and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
