George Joseph Barker

George Joseph Barker of Chandler, Arizona, formerly of Croton-on-Hudson, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday July 26, 2023. He was 81 years of age. He was born on May 22, 1942 in Peekskill to George E. Barker and Parm Barker.

George was a welder and heavy equipment mechanic for over 25 years. He worked for various companies including Con Edison and County Asphalt. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers local 137.

After relocating to Arizona, George began volunteering at the Chandler Railway Museum where he could utilize his welding skills. He continued volunteering for almost 20 years and developed of a love of trains he shared with his grandson, Ryan.

George is survived by his daughter Cindy Dong and her husband Larry Dong and his grandchildren Melissa and Ryan. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family in both New York and Arizona.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday September 12 from 5 to 8 pm at Edward F. Carter funeral home, 41 Grand Street Cronton-on-Hudson. Burial will be at Bethel Cemetery at 10 am on Wednesday September 13 in Croton-on-Hudson.
