It is with the heaviest of hearts that the family of Alicia Lucho announce the passing of their sweet "reinita", their little queen: Alicia Lucho. She passed away peacefully on Monday, May 15 of 2023, after a courageous fight with cancer. She had recently turned 68.
Alicia was born on May 5, 1955 in Lima, Peru to Aurelio Molina Palomino and Antonia Achulli Fuentes. Both of whom have welcomed her into the kingdom of heaven with arms wide open. Alicia is survived by her husband Jose Luis, her 3 daughters, Silvia, Julissa and Melissa, her sons in law, Bo and Eric, and her granddaughter Josie.
Alicia's life mission was that of being a dedicated mother. A mother-like figure to her 3 younger siblings, Celia, Lalo, and Aurelio. They lost their mother very young, leaving Alicia in charge at her tender age of 8 years old. She went on to become the most loving mom to her daughters, and more recently her granddaughter. Her greatest accomplishment was the family she built together with her "Luchito", the love of her life, whom she married in 1974. Together they became a force to be reckoned with, that not only surpassed the test of time but grew stronger and selfless with each of their years together. Theirs was an exemplary kind of love, the one willing to leave everything behind and start from scratch in a new country for the sake of their daughters, all of whom she was so very proud of.
Alicia's arrival to America in 2001, brought her into the lives of some special American families who trusted her with the care of their own babies. These families became dear friends, who feel lucky and thankful from having shared valuable years with her, especially during the raising of their kids. These babies (6 kids in total) , now young adults still remember fondly Alicia's sweet and caring ways to this day.
She loved to learn and be part of the American way. She embraced the new culture, and was always grateful for the opportunities and the experiences this great country gave her. Her undertaking of a new foreign language at age 46 was impressive, and proof of her determination and discipline towards any task.
Alicia was a faithful parishioner of the Church of The Assumption in Peekskill, NY. Her devotion to God and the Virgin Mary were great and infinite. She enjoyed singing in Sunday's mass, especially the times she was able to participate with the choir. Her hobbies involved practicing yoga, meditation, and walking along the Hudson river. In her final days, painting by numbers became a big hit for her. Most importantly, she loved spending time around family and friends, who are all devastated by her loss.
Alicia left us with a rich legacy that honors the human factor in all of us. A true angel of God in this crazy, busy, and hectic world we live in. Take the time to smell the roses. Be optimistic. Be flexible. Have faith. Always be patient, always be kind. Respect and accept one another. Accept God's will with your head up and a smile. Hold on to your spiritual strength when the physical is running out. Be thankful for every day on this planet, even when times become tough. These are the values Alicia lived by and will forever live on in her memory.
