He was born December 28, 1943, in Laredo, the son of James Kenneth and Virgie Ruth Hedrick Vannoy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step dad, Eddie Vannoy, and brothers-in-law, Jack Huffman, and Sherman Ward.
James retired after 33 years of service with HCR Manor Care. He was formerly employed with Union Carbide, Concrete Supply, and Al Marino. He was a member of Humphreys Memorial United Methodist Church.
He is survived by the love of his life, Shirley Coulter; step sons, Ben Coulter of Clay and Chris Coulter of Charleston; grandkids, Austin Coulter and Adeline Coulter; siblings, Billy J. Vannoy (Sandy), Vallie E. Huffman, Betty J. Casto (Nick), and Bonnie Vannoy Ward; nephews, Charles "Chuck" Snyder, Jason Vannoy (Krissy), Joseph Vannoy; nieces, Robin Hart Berger, Debbie Ann West, Amanda Ward (Mandy); a host of great nieces and nephews; and faithful K-9 companion, Babee.
Celebration of James' life will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 22, at Casdorph & Curry Funeral Home, with Pastor Raymond Jordan officiating.
Gathering of family and friends will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
