Born February 8, 1944 in Creve Coeur to Clarence and Elsie (Jung) Evans, he married Wanda Jones on April, 24 1977 in Creve Coeur.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years; three children, Christine (Alex) VonWernich of Pekin, Amy (Jeff Wilson) Evans of Florida, and Karen Blythe of Creve Coeur; four grandchildren, twins, Lucas and Emma VonWernich, Allyson Wilson, Austen Blythe and three brothers, Don (Dottie) Evans of Peoria, Paul (Jill) of Peoria, Jerry (Angie) Evans of East Peoria.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Beverly Smith.
Leonard was a veteran of the United States Army.
He had worked at Caterpillar, Inc. as an inspector, and was a member of U.A.W Local 974 in East Peoria.
Leonard enjoyed woodworking, working on cars, and was always willing to help others.
He formerly attended Creve Coeur Christian Church.
Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.
