Born March 1, 1956 in Peoria to John A. and Eileen A. (Alton) Sheldon, he married Debra A. Sweatt on December 7, 1974 in East Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Summer Sheldon of Peoria and Brandy Sheldon – Huffman of Pekin; six grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; three brothers, Steve (Diane) Sheldon of Ellsworth, Kansas, Scott (Sandy) Sheldon of McLean and Pat (Lori) Sheldon of Creve Coeur; one sister, Sister Sylvia Anne Sheldon of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
John was a veteran of the United States Army 101st Airborne Division.
He had worked at Rohn Manufacturing for 27 years, retiring in 2003.
A loving and dedicated husband, father and Papa. John also enjoyed building models, dirt bike riding and tinkering.
John attended Pekin Lighthouse Church of God.
His Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. Pastor Rick Hill will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be at Roberts Cemetery in Morton. Military rites will be provided by the United States Army and Tazewell Military Rites Team.
