Henry Flatt was born May 23, 1938, in Nacogdoches, Texas. It was on October 1, 2024, while surrounded by his family at The Memorial Hospital in Craig, Colorado that Henry went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. Henry was deeply and richly blessed by his loving wife, Patricia (Jackson) Flatt. Also surviving are his six stepchildren: Debi (Rick) Payton of Washington; Randy (Cassy) Jackson of Idaho; Marty (Steph) Jackson of Colorado; Sandy (Dick) Greening of Wisconsin; Dennis Jackson (Lynnah) of California and Rhonda (Scott) St. Clair of Colorado. He was also very blessed by 18 Grandchildren and 34 Great Grandchildren, who will all miss him greatly.
Henry served in the United States Air Force as a Personnel Specialist in the Consolidated Base Personnel Office (CBPO) from 1960 to 1964. While stationed in Guam, he became involved in theater, acting in three separate roles.
Henry was a man that hungered for knowledge and there was not a subject that did not interest him. He was an avid reader and truly enjoyed learning, encouraging others, especially children to do well in school and pursue higher education.
Always striving to set the example and practice what he preached, Henry earned two master’s degrees in psychology, from UNLV. He then went to work for the State of Nevada as a Clinical Psychologist and served the communities of Las Vegas and Hawthorne for 20 years as both an employee and as a supervisor. Henry went on to author a textbook, which was available in the UNLV library.
Henry was well known for his volunteer work. He would often volunteer his time and resources to counsel and assist anyone needing advice and/or help.
As much as Henry loved people, He loved the Lord even more. He shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ wherever he went with whoever he met. He loved to study and teach the Scriptures. For a total of 40 years, he taught Sunday School at the First Baptist Church of the Lakes in Las Vegas and the First Southern Baptist Church in Hawthorne, Nevada. Additionally, Henry and Pat would travel to Gabbs, Nevada so he could teach Bible studies every Monday night for 5 years. Henry was a member of the Sovereign Grace Community Church in Craig, Colorado.
