Pat is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret "Peggy" Granier; his son Randall Joseph Granier; his daughter Erin Burke Sumrall (Brice); his son Sean Michael Burke; and his son Shannon Patrick Burke (Leigh); his sister Rebecca Pate and his brother Mark Granier; his grandchildren Brice Avery Sumrall, Emily Margaret Sumrall, Emily Claire Granier, Olivia Louise Granier, Caitlyn Ann Burke and Brianna Margaret Burke.
Patrick was preceded in death by his father Joseph Earl Granier and his mother Theresa Kaiser Granier.
Patrick was born in Marrero and graduated from West Jefferson High School. After graduation, Pat continued his education and earned his Associate’s Degree in Finance from LSUNO. He began his banking career with Whitney, progressing to the role of Senior Vice President. His career with Whitney spanned over 40 years until his retirement in 2018.
Throughout his life, Pat served in multiple capacities from Board Member to President on numerous boards across Southeast Louisiana. Some of his roles included President and Board Member of Big Branch Civic Association; Board Member of Tammany Trace Foundation (Rails to Trails Program); Board of Directors with Leadership St. Tammany West; Vice President and Board Member of Leadership St. Tammany West Alumni Association; as well as serving as a Board Member for St. Tammany West Chamber of Commerce, the St. Tammany Economic Development Foundation, and New Heights Therapy Center. He also served as Commissioner of St. Tammany Parish Home Rule Charter Commission; Treasurer and Board Member of St. Tammany Arts and Events District; Treasurer and Board Member of Bayou Lacombe Chamber of Commerce, and Treasurer and Director of New Orleans Treasury Management Association.
Pat was also a former member of the Original Krewe of Orpheus; the Operations and Education Committee of Southern Financial Exchange and The Chamber.
In 1998, Pat was honored by St. Tammany Economic Development Foundation as the recipient of the St. Tammany Economic Partner Award (STEP) in the Professional Individual Category. Later in 2005, Pat graduated from Slidell Regional Police Academy and received the State of Louisiana Peace Officers Standardized Testing (POST) Certificate. He continued his work with law enforcement, rising to the role of Captain of the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office Reserve Division, Mounted Unit; as well as serving as a Financial Officer of the Reserve Division.
In retirement, Pat and Peggy enjoyed travelling the world and spending time with their grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Grace Funeral Home, 450 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington, LA 70433 on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at 12:00 PM with visitation on Thursday beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place in St. Lazarus of Bethany Memorial Garden, adjacent to Grace Funeral Home, on Friday, January 7, 2022 following a graveside service beginning at 1:00 PM.
