Karlyn is survived by her beloved husband, Dr. John Ball; her children Butler Ball (Shelley) and Laura Angel; and grandchildren Jennifer Ball Watkins (George), Adrienne Ball Pichon (Brea), MPH, PhDc, Jane Ball, MD, Gabrielle Ball, Esq. and great grandchildren Nia Smith, Ian Ball, Liam Smith, Andi Watkins and Jane Ball, and nieces Lynden Swayze (Tom), Karlyn Langford (Ross), Stuart Hudson (Chris), Hartley Savits (Ken).
Karlyn is preceded in death by her son John Ball, Jr., and her sisters Lynden Clay and Faith Howell.
Karlyn was born in Lake Charles, La. She was married to Dr. John Ball for 65 years. Karlyn was an active member of Hosanna Lutheran Church where she enjoyed quilting and spending time with her quilting group. She was a former Kindergarten teacher at Trinity Episcopal School in NOLA. Later in life she received her MSW from Tulane University.
Karlyn spent her last days along side her devoted husband John at Creole Cottage, a private residential facility in Lacombe where the staff there treated them like royalty, they became family. She was grateful to Elmo, Crystal, Amy, Stacy, Linda, Bryanna, Michael and Felicia for the great care she received at Creole Cottage. Also, to Passages Hospice nurses, Ashley, Danielle, Christine and social worker, Roshuna.
Karlyn was very proud of the accomplishments of her granddaughters, Jennifer, a licensed Massage Therapist, Adrienne, a PhD candidate at Columbia, Gabrielle, an attorney, and Jane, an MD, both graduates from Tulane University.
Services will be at Hosanna Lutheran Church at 2480 Hwy 190 East, Mandeville, LA 70448 on Saturday, June 26th at 11:00 am.
Interment will take place in Mandeville Cemetery, Mandeville, LA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Karlyn may be made to Hosanna Lutheran Church.
