Howard was born on December 31, 1927, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and spent most of his life as a resident of that city. Howard graduated from Holy Cross High School and served in the U.S Navy as a Machinist First Class. Howard was a skilled pump mechanic and is the founder of Pump Systems, Inc, based in Metairie, Louisiana.
Howard was an avid sailor, woodsman, angler and enjoyed life’s many pursuits with family and friends. He was a long time Saints fan and a jazz enthusiast, and was a frequent visitor to the music scene in the New Orleans’s French Quarter. Howard was a person of deep faith and a devout Catholic. He brought a unique perspective to life, prayer, humor, and friendship into everyone’s life.
He is preceded in his death by his beloved wife Joanne Blanchard Moreaux, his son Harold Moreaux, his sisters Francis Moreaux Gallagher and Claire Moreaux Blondeaux, and his parents Maurice Delta Moreaux and Viola Attaway Moreaux.
Howard is survived by his three daughters, Jan Moreaux Kuntz (Gus), Catherine Moreaux Marino (Darryl), and Ella Moreaux Marchand (Gary). He is also survived by his grandchildren Amanda Kuntz Snyder (Dillon), Kenneth Simmons, Jr. (Caroline), Alison Kuntz, Zachary Pfister and Mathew Marchand (Lacy) and his great grandchildren Sara Simmons, Caiman Snyder, and Palmer Elizabeth Marchand. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins of the Gallagher and Blondeaux families.
The family thanks the staff of St. Anthony’s Garden for the care and friendship they offered to Howard in his later years.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 21, 2022, at The Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 501 Holy Trinity Dr., Covington, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Catholic mass at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, New Orleans, Louisiana. Services have been entrusted to Grace Funeral Home, Covington, Louisiana.
