Brenda is survived by sisters Evelyn, Pauline, Kate and Marie.
Brenda is also mourned by her extended family in England, Australia and Canada, and was fortunate to have great friends in the Carrs, Delaneys, Gannons and Haines.
Brenda was an industrial chemist at the steel works in Durham County, England, when she and John got married. They moved the family to Canada in 1968. Brenda worked in manufacturing and real estate in Oshawa, and at Sklar-Pepplar in Whitby as the Quality Control Manager. She loved to feed people, and was obsessed with all things Egyptian.
Brenda retired in 2000. An embroiderer, reader and an avid traveller, Brenda went with John to Newfoundland, Alaska, the Southern US, Egypt and the Holy Land. She visited England many times with John, and more recently with daughter Angela. She volunteered at St. Gertrude’s for mass and marriage preparation courses. Brenda volunteered for many years at the Palliative Care unit at Lakeridge Health Oshawa too. Brenda was very proud of her grandchildren, and loved attending graduations.
The family would like to thank the team at Lakeridge Health Oshawa for giving Brenda great care. Anyone wishing to make donations in lieu of flowers could donate to Heart and Stroke.
Visitation will be Tuesday October 1st at Courtice Funeral Chapel at 1587 Durham Regional Hwy 2, Courtice ON from 2 to 4 pm; and from 6 to 8 pm. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday October 2nd at St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church at 690 King St E in Oshawa, at 11 am, followed by a reception downstairs in the church hall.
