Sean passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family following a hard-fought battle with cancer. Sean was proud of his 30-year career with the RCMP and retired in June 2017. He always had a plan and lived his life with integrity and honesty. Sean is remembered for his loyalty to family and friends, a deep love of the outdoors including hunting and fishing, and his witty, dry sense of humour. He loved sharing good beer, good food, and laughs with friends and family. He took great pride in his sons and actively supported them through coaching, mentoring, chaperoning and ensuring that they were able to pursue their passions.
Sean is survived by his wife Sheri, sons Ben (Dani) and Ian, mother Florence, sisters Yvette (James) and Cathy (Perry), brother Vince, mother in law Miriam Fitzsimmons and father in law Tom Fitzsimmons. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Peter, brother Chris and brother in law Bob Fitzsimmons.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all those who supported Sean, including friends new and old; and a large team of medical personnel who allowed Sean to spend his last days at home with his family.
Donations to B.C. Cancer agency or Comox Valley Hospice Society would be appreciated.
Looking back on the memory of
The dance we shared beneath the stars above
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known that you’d ever say goodbye.
