Roger was born in Vancouver, BC, welcomed into this world by his parents, Frederick Harrison Farrar of Montréal, QC, and Eileen Mary Farrar (nee Cheeseman) of Vancouver, BC, as well as his brother Bryan Maurice Farrar. He grew up in Marpole, graduating from Sir Winston Churchill Secondary and studying Heavy Duty Mechanics at BCIT. One of his first jobs was working at Woodward’s in the automotive department, but most of his working life was spent as a plumbing draftsman. Some of his favourite projects were the Capilano Fish Hatchery, the Vancouver Aquarium, Park Place, and the Expo Aquarium in Lisbon. In 2004, Roger retired from Sterling Cooper & Associates and happily made the move to island life on Hornby. A seaman at heart, Roger spent many years navigating the waters of the west coast with his family aboard their beloved boat the Mallard. His love of the sea continued on Hornby with a small fishing boat and his morning coffee with friends at Ford’s Cove and walks with his dog at Little Trib.
Roger is survived by his wife Patsy, his children Nicole, Paula and Matthew, grandchildren Van, Vincent, Celeste, Ginger, Cormac and Flynn, his son-in-laws Ian and Rob, his daughter-in-law America, and his dog Honey.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
