After spending the July long weekend with his family celebrating birthdays and anniversaries, Ken settled into his big comfy chair on Monday afternoon to enjoy a beer as he watched the early news and waited for Pauline to come home. He nodded off for a nap, and didn’t wake up.
We like to think that Dad got up from that chair, feeling strong and free from pain, hopped into his plane and took off for one last flight — tilting his wings as he waved goodbye to all of us.
Charles Kenneth MacMillan was born in 1935 to Charlie and Myra MacMillan of Oyster River. Growing up around Black Creek and Gordon River camp gave him a love for the west coast wilderness that never faded. Next to flying, his greatest passion was fishing and he landed some spectacular catches – but Ken would tell you that his greatest catch of all was his wife Pauline. Married for 57 years, they had four children, Cheryl, Andrea, Laurie and Steve, and seven grandchildren, Ken, Jessalyn, Aaron, Lindsay, Zach, Kendall and Hailee.
