Jayden Robert Wilson was born 6 weeks premature on his Grandmother’s birthday, July 17th 2001, at Rockyview General Hospital in Calgary. It was an amazing but scary time as our first child was born but had to be taken away due to complications of being a preemie. Mom was so excited to be finally reunited with her son, she picked out a nice dress, had a shower, curled her hair, and put on make-up just like it was a date. In the neonatal unit, he was known as the big kid on the block as he was 5 lbs 15oz. He was able to do a push up and lift his head while on his belly which prompted the nurse to say “boy you guys are going to have your hands full with this one.” On his Grandfather’s birthday, 26 October 2022, he left behind his loving family to eternally grieve his loss… his mother Lorianne, his father Darren and his younger brother Chase. Sharing in our grief are many Aunts, Uncles, cousins, grandparents, extended family and friends.
Describing Jayden is not easy because I can go on and on so buckle up, here we go. Athletic? You bet, he played for many years on house and rep league baseball (pitcher, catcher), played hockey and soccer. In good shape? We constantly marvelled at his physique as he loved to work out and could get in tip top shape with ease. Good personality? Don’t get me started. He was sarcastic with an incredible sense of humour. He had the most amazing smile, beautiful eyes with long eyelashes, incredibly handsome and intelligent. He had an old sole and everyone he met always commented on how he seemed so much older than he was. When he purchased his latest car on October 8th/22, the owner asked “is this your wife” and shook her hand. He said, “ahhh…it’s my Mom”! Outdoorsy? Jayden absolutely loved nature, hiking, fishing, camping and was extremely resourceful. He was a natural at whatever he tried. Mom told him how to fly fish once and he figured it out within a couple casts. Pride? We were amazed by how well he treated everything he owned. From shoes to clothes to electronics, everything seemed to last. Compassionate? He always would give the shirt off his back for friends and loved ones. Growing up he was overprotective of his brother and looked out for his Mom at every turn especially on all the latest excursions camping, tubing and just chilling by the water. He never missed a birthday or Mother’s Day and always made his own amazing personalized cards. He absolutely loved his dog Bella until she passed last year and his two cats Loki (aka Boki) and Luna (aka Bune). He commonly referred to himself as the cat whisperer. For our recent addition to the family (Harlow), Jayden named him “Seatbelt” because the dog always wrapped his arms around him. Adventurous? To a T. He was up for new adventures. He thoroughly enjoyed excursions to shoot guns at the fish and game and was eager to try out our black powder musket. He was looking forward to the trip with Mom and his Brother to a cabin, going fishing and crabbing on Remembrance Day. When asked about a potential posting for the family to Italy next year, he was absolutely on board. “Yup, you bet”, he said, “It’s time for a new start.”
Jayden has excelled in any job opportunity he took on. He had an amazing work ethic. It was instilled in him at the age of 4 when he helped deliver Apple Chips with his Dad and proudly wore his name tag “Jayden Wilson, Quality Control Manager”. He received a diploma from NIC and was in the midst of an apprenticeship program in Carpentry. He worked with Blue Line Drywall and quickly excelled and received a $2 per hour raise within a week after they realized he was such a hard worker. He has been working between Honda and Kia for the past four months and absolutely loved working there. He got along so well the other employees and was constantly raving to Mom and Dad about the fun he had at work and stories about hanging out after work with the guys.
Jayden was so proud of his classic 1987 Chrysler New Yorker 5th Ave that he just bought a couple weeks ago. Ride free my darling son. I’ll love you forever, I’ll like you for always, as long as I’m living, my baby you’ll be!” We know you are sitting around the campfire right now joking around and telling stories with Grandpa Ken, Uncle Tyler, your Nitro Nanny with Bella at your side.
We would like to welcome everyone to share in the Celebration of our son’s Life on Nov 5th at 1:00 pm. Please upload some photos and any stories you can share about Jayden’s amazing life. We will be having all these printed off and put in a keepsake.
