Gordy had a remarkable life. He worked for logging, moving, and surveying companies before joining the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1954. He served as an Aero Engine Tech for 31 years, travelling the world. He retired in 1985 and continued to work for Western Forest Products for nine years. He loved golfing, fishing, and watching sports, especially baseball. He was also a lucky man when it came to Keno and scratch tickets which he bought daily from the Co-op.
Gordy was a devoted husband, who married the love of his life, Irene, in 1963. They would have celebrated their 60th anniversary on December 26. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who supported and cherished his family. He was a kind and generous man, who touched the lives of many people. He loved getting and giving hugs. They were very important to him.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Gordon is predeceased by parents Robert and Eunice (Ron), stepmother Inga, son Wayne, sister Billie Rose, sister Susie, brother Reg and brother Glen.
He is survived by his wife Irene, daughter Crystal (Mike), daughter Lisa, daughter Tara (Al), son-In-law Jeff, brother Bob (Clare), sister Marilyn (Ed), brother Rick (Shelly), brother Bruce (Shelly), brother Ken (Sandra), sister-in-law Connie, grandchildren Alicia, Brittney, Justin (Cara), Michael, Amber (Will), Brandon (Jasmine), and 8 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life / Poppy Service will be held at the Comox Legion on 17 Dec at 1400 hrs. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Charity of choice.
