Brenda Elizabeth Gaucher, 70, of Courtenay B.C., has passed away after a brave battle with Cancer on July 2nd, 2024. She is survived by her loving husband Ron E. Gaucher, son Ron H. Gaucher (Keira), and daughter Berkley E. Gaucher (Richard). She is also survived by her brothers David (Sandy) and Howie Todd (Dianne), her grandson Elliot, and loving nieces and nephews Adam, Heather, Melissa, Bridget, and Georgia.
Brenda was a loving wife and sister, caring and compassionate mother, and an enthusiastic Nanny. Brenda embodied a selfless life, always giving time, her most precious commodity, to family, friends, and all those in need. She worked at Vancouver Island Insurance from the early 1990’s until she retired in 2019. In her retirement she enjoyed traveling with her loving husband Ron, always taking her time to soak up various sights and culture. And boy, did she like to take her time. She always lit up whenever there was an opportunity to see her grandson Elliot where we could always find her laying on the ground playing with him and all the toys she kept from her children. While also more of a sister to her daughter, Berkley, Brenda was always waiting by the phone or at her beautiful house in Merville with an open ear and hand. Their relationship continually blossomed over the years as Berkley cared and advocated for Brenda during her cancer journey.
In the last months with the return of her disease, she spent every morning at the hospital fighting for her health. Never wavering in confidence in her will to keep fighting, she never gave up. The commitment from her husband, Ron, to be at her side every minute of the day for the final 7 months, the day after finishing his own cancer battle, is nothing less than heroic. The love they shared and continue to hold for one another remained steady and true and his care for her over these months was nothing short of selfless.
Brenda will be sorely missed by all but would want her loved ones to know that while she is not physically here, she remains in the kindness that emanates from her children and in the unconditional love we all continue to share with her.
Forever in our hearts, on our minds, and in our dreams,
Rest in Paradise Brenda.
