William Joseph Norman, 83, of Coshocton, Ohio, passed away at Coshocton County Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, September 3, 2013. He was born in Coshocton on April 22, 1930, the son of the late William “Skeet” and Sarah (Walker) Norman.
Bill attended Culvers Military Academy for 2 years during the summers of High School, and was in the Black Horse Patrol. He was a 1948 graduate of Coshocton High School. Bill attended The Ohio State University before joining the United States Air Force, serving from 1951-1955.
On July 13, 1951 Bill married JoAnn (Moore) Norman, who survives. He worked for the Coshocton Public Library for ten years, Coshocton Beverage for 30 years, and owned and operated Norman Horse Farm. Bill was a member of Park United Methodist Church, Former member of the Coshocton Elks Lodge #376, Officer in the Ohio Harness Horseman Association, served on the Coshocton County Convention and Visitors Bureau, and manager of the Downtown Motel. Bills hobbies included taking care of his horses, an avid reader, and enjoyed cheering on the Buckeyes.
In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by two sisters, Judith Norman (Richard) Ellenberger of Toledo, Ohio, and Nancy Norman Latier of Coshocton; sister-in-law, Cathy Hess Norman of Florida; son-in-law, Dan (Tina) Hardesty of West Lafayette, Ohio; great granddaughter, “Lexi”; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his children, Susan Norman Hardesty, and William “Bill” Norman; one brother James Norman; and brother-in-law, Doc Latier.
A celebration of life will be held at Park United Methodist Church on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at 1:30pm with Pastor Jeremy Roseberry, and Pastor Dennis Rinehart.
