Supreme Bishop Jake Daniel Collins

He was born on July 4, 1926, in the county of Trumbull near the city of Warren, Ohio in a community called Liberty Steel to the late Brother William and Senior Mother Viola Collins. He was one of a family of 12 children, 6 boys and 6 girls.

He was educated in the Warren, Ohio public school system before being drafted into the United States Navy, serving in the South Pacific during WW II. He was honorably discharged from Naval service on July 18, 1946.

He was married to the late Superior Mother Melita Mamie Louise Holton on August 30, 1953, in Bethlehem Twp., Ohio. From this union three children were born, Senior Mother Jessica Israel Collins, Senior Mother Rosetta Maria Stewart and Brother Jacob Daniel Collins.

He is survived by his present wife Superior Mother Patricia Anna Collins and three children, Senior Mother Jessica Collins, Senior Mother Rosetta Stewart and Brother Jacob Collins. Grandchildren: Elderess Tamika (Brother David Woods), Elder Adam (Elds. Rebekah Collins), Brother Jeffery Stewart, Senior Mother Simone (Presiding Elder Obed Goodwin), Brother Eric Stewart. Seven great-grandchildren, and a whole host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob, Mount Zion Tabernacle at 11:00 am with Senior Bishop J. Zerubbabel Terrell officiating. Burial will follow at Machpelah Burial Acres. Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home is serving the family.
