Max Freetage, 69, of West Lafayette, Ohio, passed away at his residence on Saturday, February 11, 2012. He was born in West Lafayette, Ohio, on September 17, 1942, the son of the late Clarence and Opha (Smith) Freetage. Max was a lifelong Coal Miner, and was also owner of M&J Landfill in West Lafayette, Ohio. Max had a lifelong love of music: singing, playing guitar, and teaching guitar to many people in Coshocton County. He received numerous awards for his music, and he donated his time and talents by playing and singing for people in nursing homes in the area. On September 17, 1960, he married Marlene Williamson, who preceded him in death on November 21, 1996. Max is survived by his four daughters, Nancy Freetage, Annette (Joe) Sirrine, Joann (Tracy) Allen, and Kelly (David) Winner, all of West Lafayette, Ohio. Also surviving are his ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, his brother, Reuben (Wilma) Freetage of West Lafayette, Ohio, and his friend, Virginia Shiflet. Max was preceded in death by his five brothers: Cecil, Gene, Forrest (Buzz), Larry, and Gary Freetage, and his sister: Thelma Griffith. Max will be sadly missed by all who knew him. A funeral service for Max will be held in the Chapel of Given-Dawson Funeral Home, 186 Park Ave., Coshocton, Ohio, on Thursday, February 16, 2012, at 1:30pm, with Pastor Steve Young officiating. Burial will follow in Fairfield Cemetery in West Lafayette. The family will greet friends and neighbors at Given-Dawson Funeral Home in Coshocton, Ohio, on Wednesday February 15, 2012, from 1-3pm, and 6-9pm, and until the time of the service on Thursday.
