Bobbie was born on February 22, 1929, to W. Allison and Mary Barrett at her grandparents’ home in Warsaw, Ohio. Her mother passed away when she was two; she was then raised by her stepmother, Carrie.
Bobbie graduated from West Lafayette High School in 1947 and married the love of her life, Thomas “Tom” McCrea in 1949. Together they operated the Fresno Service Station until 1973. Bobbie was elected White Eyes Township Clerk and served from 1976 until 1992. She was a faithful member of the Fresno Presbyterian Church serving in various capacities and was a member of the Women’s Missionary Society. Bobbie bowled on the Gutter Duster’s Bowling League in Newcomerstown and was a member of the Fresno Sorosis Club. She was also a 75-year member of the Eastern Stars.
Bobbie cherished time with her family and friends and enjoyed entertaining them in her home. She traveled extensively throughout the United States with her bowling league and her friends. She also enjoyed playing cards, crafts, and sewing.
Bobbie is preceded in death by her husband, Tom McCrea, her son, Jeff McCrea, mother, Mary Barrett, father, W. Allison Barrett, stepmother, Carrie Barrett, and sisters, Ellen Connor and Elizabeth Cocks.
She is survived by her daughter, Janice (John) Anderson of Dalton, Ohio, two grandsons, Todd (Samantha) Anderson of Columbus, Ohio, and Brian (Angela) Anderson of Dalton, Ohio, four great-grandchildren, Grace, Luke, Cole, and Megan, and sister-in-law, Betty McCrea.
Calling hours will be held at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with the funeral service to immediately follow. A burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Fresno.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Bobbie’s name to OrrVilla Retirement Community (Maple Terrace), 333 East Sassafras St., Orrville, Ohio 44667 where she resided or to the White Eyes Christian Fellowship of Fresno, 54389 TR 404, Fresno, Ohio 43824.
