John graduated from Coshocton High School in 1959 and then joined the United States Navy serving his country proudly from 1963 to 1967.
On December 27, 1966, John married Dorothy (Clendenning) Lukens who survives. He worked as a Lab Tech at General Electrics for 45 years before retiring.
John loved walking and spending time outdoors, he was an avid painter and loved art. John enjoyed all of this pets and enjoyed volunteering; especially as a Cub Scout Leader and a coach for baseball, but most importantly, John enjoyed spending time with his family and three wonderful granddaughters.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy Lukens; son Charlie (Kimberly) Lukens of Wadsworth, Ohio; three granddaughters, Grace, Addison and Riley Lukens; sister, Margaret Jean McMaster and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, John is preceded in death by hmis infant son, Christopher and sister Sharron Ankrum.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 11:00 am at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home with Pastor Lloyd Tenney officiating.
