Edith was born in Coshocton County on September 5, 1922 to the late Emmett and Odessa “Pearl” (Maston) Cunningham. Edith was a very active member of Park United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday school and was a member of the United Methodist Women group. She was very involved in all aspects of the church and in various leadership positions. In her early adult years, Edith worked at Pope Gosser Pottery Company in Coshocton where she edged pottery. On December, 30, 1945, she married Francis W. Wolford, who preceded her in death on October 31, 1976.
While she and Francis lived in the West Lafayette area, she waitressed at Thompson Restaurant, worked as a clerk and manager at Carr’s IGA grocery store, and later she retired from Jones Zylon Company. Edith enjoyed vegetable gardening and was a “super pie baker”, specializing in apple and custard pies. Edith was also a wonderful caregiver, caring for her husband while he was ill for many years and caring for her elderly parents as well. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.
Edith is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Rick Hudson, three grandchildren, Bradley Hudson (Sarah Overdier), Abigail (Charles) Alsdurf, and Micah (Chelsea) Hudson, as well as five nieces, Irma Romine, Etta Faye Bucy, Frances Phillips, Carol Bice, and Ellen Williamson, and special dear friends and former neighbors, Karen and Ron Altier.
Along with her parents and husband, Edith is preceded in death by her two brothers, Fred and Frank Cunninghman, her two sisters, Ethel Fawcett and Etta Calhoun Bennett, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at Park United Methodist Church on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jeremy Roseberry and Pastor Terrie Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Fairfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at Given-Dawson Funeral Home on Monday, March 28, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
