Tresha, Gene, and Max,

I wanted you to know how much I enjoyed the 40 or more years of haircuts that I got from your dad and brother.  I'm guessing that that number would be around 400 or so.  It was always a pleasure to come and "visit" with him while he cut my hair.  We talked so much about each of our families during those visits from when Tresha was in the Newark drill team and through her years of barber school and joining the business, the teaching experiences of Gene, and the brother far out in that cold land of Colorado, After he retired from cutting hair, I remember the time he came back in to the shop on Deo Dr. just to cut my hair one last time.  It was fun seeing both Dean and Gene at McDonald's on the days they got out for "brother time".  They always argued about who's turn it was to buy breakfast. I know as family, you'll miss Dean a lot.  But I'm sure I'm among his hundred of customers who will also miss him.  I am just glad I had the opportunity to know him and share a part of his life. So sorry to learn of Dean's passing.  Prayers for his family and may memories of Dean bring peace and comfort to his loved ones.

To all of Deans family and loved ones I send my sincere sympathy. I met Dean in 1980 when he gave me a job working at Southgate Barbers. He was always very kind and supportive and a joy to work with. I moved to Florida in 1981, but always every year when I returned to Newark I would stop in for a visit. Now as I start my 45 th  year in the business, I still feel blessed to have had a great mentor in my career. May he rest in peace and God stand by family and loved ones always.     Doug Vermillion

Although our lives diverged after High School - I’ve thought of my childhood friend and his brothers many times over the years.

To the family of Dean,  I was so sorry to hear about Deans death, it really surprised me.  We have been neighbors two times over the years.  Once on Greer Dr. E. and the other here  in the Goosepond Condo's.    I used to stop in and see him at both places just to make sure  he was ok.
