Charles “Charlie” Francis Klein, age 85, was born on August 12, 1936. On April 29, 2022, he passed away reuniting with his wife Florence and many others in our Lord’s presence. Charles was the son of James Stewart and Blanche (Wortman) Klein. He grew up on the family farm in Otsego. He graduated from New Concord High School.
Charles married Florence Lucille (Eck) Klein of Chandlersville, Ohio on June 18, 1961 and they were lovingly married for nearly 60 years.
Left behind to mourn his passing are their three daughters, Leisa (Richard) Kent of Nashport, Lori (Scott) Robinson of West Lafayette, Lynnette (Carmen Bastek) Klein of Tempe, Arizona; four grandchildren, Kyla Kent, Karysa Kent, Kaelynn Robinson and Kole Robinson; sister Karen Burris; sisters-in-law, Beverly Eck, Addaleen Eck, Yvonne Eck; brother-in-law Kinsey Tanner; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death, in addition to his parents are, is his in-laws, Gary Burris, James Eck, Evelyn Eck (Eugene) Mock, Marjorie Eck (Clyde Jr.) Schell, Richard Eck, Martha Eck Tanner, Jerry Kramer, and niece Janice Schell Hutchison.
Charles retired from General Electric in Coshocton, Ohio, in addition to being a retired bus driver from East Muskingum School District. Charles was a founding member of the Adamsville Emergency Squad, where he worked as an EMT. He was an Otsego 4-H member and later an advisor. He spent many hours of dedicated service as a lifetime member of the Otsego United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Monroe Township Grange and the Muskingum County Pomona Grange where he met and dated Florence. He was also a Clerk of Monroe Township, worked for the Muskingum County Board of Elections, and was a member of the Muskingum County Democratic Party, as well as a Treasurer until a few years ago.
Memberships in these Masonic Bodies over 50 years: Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio (Past Master of Plainfield Lodge #224) Coshocton Council No. 110 Royal & Select Masons, the Samaritan Chapter No. 50 Royal Arch Masons, Coshocton Commandery No. 63 Knights Templar, The Valley of Cambridge Ancient Accepted Scottish Rites.
Charles was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed working outside “tinkering” in his barn or garage, tending to his yard, going to his grandchildren’s events, as well as spending them with family and friends. Always the social butterfly, he brought a smile to everyone’s face.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 8, 2022 at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. At 6:45 pm the Plainfield Masonic Lodge #224 will begin a Masonic service open to all Masons. Calling hours will also be held one hour prior to the funeral service on Monday. Funeral services will be held at the Otsego United Methodist Church on Monday, May 9, 2022 at 11:00 am with Pastor Dale Parrish officiating. Burial will follow at Otsego United Methodist Church Cemetery.
