Charlie graduated from Coshocton High School in 1941, and then enlisted in the United States Navy. While stationed in the South Pacific he served on the USS Princeton and survived the sinking of his ship at the Battle of Leyte Golf on the second day of battle.
After the war, Charlie married Ada Maxine Bush in 1948. Charlie worked as a Group Leader in the Treating Room at G.E. for over 40 years until his retirement. Charlie was a member of the Coshocton Campers Club and enjoyed many trips over the years with his wife and grandchildren; a lifetime member of the AMVETS, VFW Post 2040, and the American Legion. He was also very proud to be able to serve as an Honor Guard with the Coshocton County Veterans Council preforming over 800 military funerals for servicemen and woman in Coshocton County.
Charlie was loved by many and will truly be missed.
Charlie is survived by his three sons, Mike (Debra) Bush of Newcomerstown, Jim (Marcia) Bush of Coshocton and Jeff (Nancy Rodabaugh) Bush of Coshocton; four grandchildren, Angela (Victor) Lasher of Shiloh, NC, Steven (Leandra) Bush of Jacksonville, FL, Kara Bush of Coshocton, and Bryan Bush of Coshocton; three great-grandchildren, Madalyn Cutshall, Brooklyn Cox, and Maria Lasher; two sisters, Louise (Paul) Jones of Newcomerstown and Margret Waller of West Lafayette; and brother-in-law, Charles (Carol) Barcus, of Coshocton.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Maxine who passed away on February 6, 2010; two brothers, Robert and William Bush; and brother-in-law, George Waller.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at Given-Dawson Funeral Home from 10:00am to 11:00am. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Coshocton County Memory Gardens with the Coshocton County Veterans Council preforming military honors.
