Socorro Alvarado passed away on December 3, 2024 at the age of 66. She was born on April 21, 1958 in Cameron County, Texas to the late Nicolasa and Maximino Guzman. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. In the recent years she was a proud member of Our Lady of Pilar Catholic Church as a devout catholic.
Mom had a passion for spending quality time with her family especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed knitting and making special knitted gifts for loved ones. She could also be found enjoying a good game of bingo with her lady friends. Mom was also proudly devoted to Our Lady of Guadalupe her faith was unwavering.
Mom had a smile that could light up a room, her ability to socialize and bring people together was admirable. There was something special about mom just “knowing” things, even though her kids were grown she always knew by the sound of our voice if something was wrong. A memory I’ll treasure forever would be waking up and going to sleep with a call and text every morning and every night. Mom wouldn’t go to bed unless she had given us her goodnight blessing.
She was most known for being very family oriented, everything started and ended with family when it came to mom. We were her life and she never failed to remind us of it.
Socorro leaves to cherish her memories to her beloved husband, Tomas Alvarado; their children, Jorge Alvarado and Lucy Naranjo; grandchildren, Brianna Pagan, Sofia Naranjo, Arturo Naranjo, Matthew Naranjo, Caroleena Naranjo; she also leaves a host of extended family and friends.
We would like to express our most sincere gratitude to all who surrounded our mother. She loved deeply and cared for everyone. Also a huge thank you to all the SICU medical staff at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville for everything they did to care for our mom. The quality of care and emotional support for family was unmatched.
Family will receive friends at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Monday, December 16, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.
