Rene Perez was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on December 8, 1956. Rene was called home by our Lord on July 18, 2020. Rene was the most kind, loving, and patient man to his wife, kids, grandkids, and mother.
Rene is survived by his High School sweetheart, Maria Elena Garcia, whom he married on October 11, 1980. Together they raised 4 children: Christopher R. Perez, Andrew L. (Ana) Perez, Gerald I. (Monica) Perez, and Valerie M. (Chelsea) Perez. Rene and Maria went on to become grandparents to 8 grandchildren: Adrianna, Alessandra, Annabella, Iliana, Isaac, Addilynn, Emilynn, and Jones. In addition, Rene is survived by his siblings: Armando (Sylvia) Perez, Sylvia (Richard) Medrano, Lawrence (Mary) Perez, and multiple nephews and nieces . Rene was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Guadalupe Perez, and his brother, Gilbert Perez.
Rene was a maintenance welder and crane operator at LyondellBasell for nearly 40 years. Rene worked hard to give his family everything he possibly could, and took pleasure in seeing his family enjoying life together. From the time his kids were little until the they became parents of their own, Rene was always there with a camera in his hand, eagerly capturing every moment. Rene took pride in the family he had built with his wife. Any friend he met throughout his life soon became family, as he treated everyone he met with love and genuine kindness. On weekends, you could always find Rene anywhere there was live music, BBQ, or baseball. When he found all three together, his happiness was undeniable.
Rene was a proud Miller High School graduate of the class of 1975. He continued to keep in contact with his classmates and would regularly attend class reunions bringing truth to the saying, “Once a Buc, Always a Buc.”
Due to the current COVID-19 crisis, funeral services will be private. The family would like to extend a drive-thru opportunity for all of Rene’s friends and family to pay their final respects at the Perez household on August 1, 2020 at 6:00 PM.
